A Month of Memories: April & May

These past two months have been one of those weird time vacuums; they seem to have somehow simultaneously dragged by and then flurried past in a whirlwind of moving, ups, downs, laughter, tears and gearing up for a super busy June and July.

It’s strange because I feel like loads happened, but unusually for me, I haven’t really documented it anywhere – no realms of photos on my phone or chatty blog posts…

It’s difficult to say why blogging took such a hit; sometimes its exactly what I need in a mental health bad spell, and other times it just feels like another way of talking to someone which, more often than not, in a bad spell, is exactly what I don’t want.

Moving brings with it so much stress its unreal, but I’m finally feeling settled and like my new place is truly home. We had no sofa for ages, bed delivery debacles and nightmare move-in days, but thankfully that’s all over now! Still, just about anywhere can feel like home with a glass of prosecco, trashy TV and a camping chair (NB: Camping chairs actually have very handy drinks holders, should you decide that a sofa just isn’t for you, which at one point, I nearly resigned myself to.)

I’m really pleased with the way it’s all decorated – its been a mash of hand me downs, saving for sofas, sending sofas back when they didn’t work. I purchased this outdoor rattan furniture set from B&Q, which I thought was super   good value! We also picked up this cute little plant because – well, how cute!

I’d been collecting some little bits and bobs along the way for the house and found some real gems from H&M, IKEA, George at Asda,  to name but a few! We also found a real hidden gem in the form of Nabru – a flat pack sofa company who are very reasonably priced and will deliver, plus can build the sofa for an additional £45 (but provide super useful videos if thats out of your price range!).

My housemate is a dedicated exerciser – something I’ve always struggled with, but together, we’ve really upped our exercise game and I’ve started running six days a week. I don’t know what it is, but somehow, I’ve found the enjoyment in running. When I’m having a shitty day, I can’t wait to run it off, and I find I do my best thinking when I run; it’s really beginning to help me get clarity on areas I just couldn’t quite see clearly before.

Plus, in Hammersmith, you probably have some of the best running spots you could wish for – from along the river, to Ravenscourt Park… this weather has just improved it ten fold. Our group of pals have gotten into Tennis, so Ive been having some fun with that, and I just signed up to a netball league which is proving to be tonnes of fun. I finally feel like I’m getting control of my body, my fitness and my willpower… It’s been a really long time coming, but somehow, it’s all just clicked.

It’s also got me back into running in Henley where I’m working – I always forget just how beautiful it is around here…

Speaking of the weather, I’ve loved this little heatwave (for the most part!), not least because living by the river there are some truly perfect spots – when I’m on this stretch of the river and the sunset is lazily hanging around in the sky, I feel like I’m home, and on holiday all at the same time…

The end of April and May is one I’ve happily welcomed to be honest – there’s been so many ups and downs that I’m just looking forward to a plateau – I’ve booked some super exciting stuff, including my first travel for a while (and it’s a unique one, so I can’t wait to share that with you all!), more from my Running In Heels some super fun events to tell you about…

As usual, thank you to all the lovely people who keep clicking back to check in on this little (inconsistent) patch of the internet it really does mean so much!

I’m so pleased you’re feeling settled in your new home, it looks beautiful and I can’t wait to visit! Running is such a good way to unwind, I agree it can take a while to get into it (I fell out of love with it for a long time) but there is nothing quite like the feeling of finishing a good run. That’s so cool you’ve started playing netball, and yay for tennis – I love tennis so much! Can’t wait for your next Running in Heels post, and to hear all about your travels!

Your living room looks GORGEOUS! I love how you’ve designed it, it’s the exactly same way I probably would have myself. Lovely photos and I just saw your Instagram post and I’m so glad everything turned out clear. It’s great that you’ll be speaking about that because there needs to be more awareness in young women and checking your boobs! 🙂 xxx

Moving is always so draining on your energy isn’t it? Physically and mentally. I hope you have lots of rest and recuperation after successfully settling into your new home – and well done on the running! x x x

Your home is looking so pretty Kate, it really is gorgeous. I really want to get into running but my struggle is finding routes to run around my boyfriends as I’m not familiar in the places there! But it’s something I want to get better at, even if I only run twice a week at least I will feel healthy 🙂

How gorgeous does your new home look?! You’d never know that everything came from a mish-mash of different places, it all looks wonderful and so homely! It seems like you have plenty of space too, it’s lovely to see the photos and admire how you’ve made it your own! So happy to hear that you’ve got into running as well, I absolutely love it and find it really energises me and helps me to clear my head, it sounds like you and L are the perfect power-duo on the exercise front! Hoping that June has brought you just as much happiness!

I’m loving the decor of your living room – you have great interior design skills! 🙂 I always wish I could run (I can, but I’m terrible at motivating myself!).
