I love the turn of this season. I was a little Summer-saturated if I’m honest; sure the sun was nice, but the stifling heat, being stuck in an office, my diet essentially just becoming ‘Ice Cream’… I’ve always been a lover of all things Autumn / Winter, but there’s something about that tipping point, where the sun sets on August, and we’re blown steadily into crisp and cold mornings.
The darker nights herald the beginning of the pulling on of big fluffy scarves, being tucked up in bed with a warming tea whilst the trees howl outside, bracing yourself against the window, the warmth of a gluvine heating you up all the way down to your toes…
- A brusque walk on a Saturday morning to get coffee.
- The German-inspired pop-ups that crop up all over London
- Autumn fashion
- A large red wine, a hearty home-cooked meal and X factor in the background
- That first sip of mulled wine as Christmas gets closer
- Halloween; parties, outfits, baking
- Dog walks up the hill
- Blackberrys and Apples – there’s a tree that looks like a mini whomping willow in my parents garden, and I love picking the apples off it and making a huge crumble
- The smell of a roast dinner cooking on a Sunday
- Cosying up by the fire, large merlot in hand and a good book to get through
- Scarves!
- The smell of Autumn in the air
- Hot chocolates the size of your head
- The sparkle of a morning frost in the sunlight
- Rosy cheeks
- The warmth of home hitting you as you step in from a long walk
- Home-made soups
- Cosying up with chocolate and horror films
- Autumnal sunsets; pink skies
- Chai flavours
- Pumpkins!
- Candles throughout the house ….
- Blankets
- New slippers and pyjamas
- The inaugural first Autumn Pie…
And it seems I’m not the only one who adores this season…

Autumnal clothing colours – I have a mustard knit jumper that I can’t wait to bust out π Seasonal autumn foods such as blackberries on the hedgerows are a firm fave of mine too!

I’m so cosy right now, favourite throw, large glass of merlot, a home-made pie in the oven and ready to get cosy as can be for the week ahead!
What are your favourite things about this season?
Ahh this post really made me smile! Autumn is definitely my favourite season, there’s something about that crisp feeling when you wake up, putting on a cosy jumper and sit down to that first cup of tea on a fresh morning! Also as the parent of a young toddler, I’m VERY grateful for the darker mornings and evenings!
Hels xx
I really enjoyed reading this blog post and getting to know more about what you love during the Autumn season. Thanks for sharing lovely πΈβ¨

Aw, actually I’m not a fan of Autumn (slippery leaf piles, drizzle that frizzes my hair, SPIDERS everywhere – I even wrote an Anti-Autumn post, haha). Even though I’m a summer girl through and through, I have to say that mulled wine, apples and blackberries, and a mahooooosive hot chocolate sound great though! Fab post, loved it π xx

I absolutely cannot wait for autumn to be in full swing. It’s the best time of the year, October is by far my favourite month and it’s so soon! I love the chill in the air and being wrapped up warm. Getting to sit in front of a roaring fire is a treat. I totally agree with everything on your list and now I’m desperate to get the mulled wine out haha!

These are literally some of my favourite things in the world, especially about Autumn!

I actually really like Autumn (not so much when it rains though!). The crisp mornings, orange leaves and cosy evenings. Also, Strictly is back on the TV! I completely agree with your points about hot chocolates the size of your head, German-inspired pop-ups and candles throughout the house.

Oh look, there’s a quote from me! Thank you for including me! That has made me smile first thing on a sunday morning! Posts like this really make me excited for the new season, there’s nothing more satisfying than being able to snuggle up in a big coat before heading out to stomp on all the crunchy leaves in the park! An apple crumble with fresh fruit from your parents whomping willow tree sounds absolutely delicious – when can I head over to try it?! I think I need to invest in some new autumn PJs after reading your list, the ones I wear most regularly are still the tartan ones that you bought for you, me and Hels last year!!
I love Autumn. I’ve basically lived in permanent Summer for over three years so it’s nice to be experiencing Autumn and all its glory for longer than a brief visit xx
