Oh hi!
I wrote to you all in my little life update recently about the things I want to do this year, and there are some little side hustles I want to set some good intention towards.
1.) Photography.
I’ve been lucky enough to have nice feedback in the past about the photos I take of people, and I think ultimately photography is what I want to end up doing. I have dreams of wondering out each day to take pictures of people and days spent cosied up in a study working and editing photos :). I’ve got a few starter photos, but I really want to focus this year on building out my portrait photography as well as working on some more scenic stuff too. My lovely friend Hels has always encouraged me to do this, so I’m going to give it a good go this year! I’m in desperate need of volunteers, so if you’re in London, let me know!
When I wrote this in post about a few days ago, there was a photo I remembered taking of my Grandma who we sadly lost last year; it is one of the all time favourite photos I’ve ever taken, but I lost a load of photos a year or so ago unfortunately, and I became convinced it was one of the lost ones. I searched back through my phone but alas, to no avail. I’ve been thinking about the photography goal a lot, but I’ve been really nervous and unsure about whether or not I should actively pursue it or whether I should have deleted the above paragraph and forgotten all about it… I woke up this am, after a bit of a down day yesterday and my iPhone did one of those ‘flashbacks’. The title? “Portraits”, and the hero picture was the long-lost one of my Grandma. I’m a big believer in signs, and this feels like the loveliest kind. Thanks Grandma :).
2.) Blog Instagram.
I really don’t pay enough heed to this. I’m not a huge one for caring about the grid, what it looks like etc, so I want to post things more happily and freely. I don’t care about likes or reach, but I do enjoy posting photos, so I want to do more of it!
3.) Blog.
I literally love blogging – I let it slide for long periods of time idly thinking ‘oh that’d be a good post’ or writing in my actual diary somethings which I think would be helpful or good for me to share. I want to spend more time doing what I love, I’ve had some nice success with my blog in the past when I commit properly, and I’d like to give it a really good go this year.
4.) Bullet Journalling.
For Christmas my Mum bought me a beautiful bullet journal – again this was something I used to do a lot of after therapy to write up a therapy log and decorate it – I found it a really mindful and enjoyable activity, and its something I want to get back to. Ultimately I want this to substitute into one of my evenings, rather than mindlessly scrolling all night!
5.) Book!
Hels and I have our first book being published – scheduled for November 2020! I’m looking forward to the editing process, and revisiting the characters we’ve spent so much time with over the course of 2019! I also can’t wait to take our first flatlay of our very own book!
6.) A Photo
OK, this is a minor / major one. This year, I’d like to take a full body photo of myself that I do *not* hate instaneously. I have no idea how likely this is… I’ll keep you posted!
What are your 2020 aspirations?
Love,
Kate x
