Today’s blog is all about Eating in Edinburgh! During my stay, F took me to some pretty amazing places to eat! The Pantry On a rainy Tuesday we decided a long walk through Edinburgh’s beautiful streets to Stockbridge was the order of the day for brunch. F recommended we hit up The Pantry . When we arrived, there was a long queue which we made the mistake of leaving. Twenty minutes later, we were back having exhausted all other options – and I am so glad we were! We’d worked up the hunger, so we ordered eggs Benedict and a side of waffles to share. It. Was. Incredible.   Afterwards, F showed me one of the prettiest streets in Edinburgh. It’s pretty insta-famous by all accounts, so you might recognise it! Then, it was time to enjoy an ever-so-familiar routine that we’d performed over many years – getting dolled up for a night…

Arthur’s Seat was high on my Edinburgh ‘To Do’ list. Monday – I arrived to thick fog, with Arthur’s Seat nearly visible in the distance. Tuesday – I woke up and eagerly opened the curtains; more fog. On Tuesday night, an epic thunder storm rolled in. I was due to fly home Thursday, so I all but gave up hope whilst the storm rumbled all through the night. Wednesday I woke up, made a coffee and opened the curtains – bright sunshine! I threw on my sports kit and hot-footed it over. I climbed the steep incline of Arthur’s Seat, favourite †music in and the sun shining down on my face. It’s the little moments like this that make solo travel so worth it for me. I finally got to the top and I genuinely felt a bit overcome with emotion at just how beautiful the views were. You can…

When I escaped to Edinburgh recently, I had the pleasure of staying at Cheval Edinburgh Grand.   I’ve never stayed in serviced apartments before, usually going for quiet air b n bs or lovely little hotels. Walking in to the Edinburgh Grand literally makes you feel like a princess. The building itself was originally built in the early 1800s as a hotel.  In 1825, the building was purchased by the National Bank of Scotland, and The Edinburgh Grand Team have done a beautiful job of sympathetically maintaining some of the original features whilst modernising it. You step inside and immediately your attention is drawn upwards – this is the view from the top floor down into the stunning lobby. I stayed in one of their Deluxe One Bedroom apartments. This room used to be one of the note burning rooms, where the bank workers would burn fake currency in the 1800s.…

Travel is certainly a funny old space right now; it’s scary to know whether or not you’ll end up stuck in quarantine if there’s an announcement during your time away, or if you should even be going away in the first place. A couple of weeks ago, J&I took some tentative steps for a day trip down to East Sussex. We’re big fans of being outdoors and hiking, and we decided to go super early for a quick hike and a swim in the sea, provided the crowds didn’t look like you’d end up on the front of the Daily Mail. Alarms set for 05:30am the next day to get one of the first trains out of Clapham. As the sun rose over the English countryside, we found ourselves stopping in a tiny train station and stepping off the train to the call of seagulls. Jess had done a hike…

Hello, hi there, How are you? Been quite a while since we caught up hasn’t it. Before lockdown began by my count! Somehow both a lot and a lot of nothing has happened since then. I haven’t even had a chance to write up my Sweden travel diaries, which will have to wait, but in the meantime there’s a lot to talk about. Grab a cup of tea and let’s chat… You might have to bear with me in this post because my minds has been a busy little place recently – as I’m sure lots of people have found in the dreaded ‘L’ word (I’m going to start putting £1 in a jar every time I say ‘unprecedented’…). Work / Life I’ve been struggling under a lot of pressure with work recently – I work in hospitality [software] so the pendulum has really swung – it’s been quiet as most…

Oh hi! I wrote to you all in my little life update recently about the things I want to do this year, and there are some little side hustles I want to set some good intention towards. 1.) Photography. I’ve been lucky enough to have nice feedback in the past about the photos I take of people, and I think ultimately photography is what I want to end up doing. I have dreams of wondering out each day to take pictures of people and days spent cosied up in a study working and editing photos :). I’ve got a few starter photos, but I really want to focus this year on building out my portrait photography as well as working on some more scenic stuff too. My lovely friend Hels has always encouraged me to do this, so I’m going to give it a good go this year! I’m in…
