There’s something just so very special about this city. Maybe it’s because its where I met nearly all of my best friends, maybe it’s because its where I came to mend a broken heart after one of the worst years of my life – or maybe it’s because it was the first place I ever lived where I truly felt like I was home.

In New York, weekends are all about brunches. I’ve decided it’s high-time we Brits adopted this little tradition, and so I appear to be on a mission to scout out the best brunch spots!

So even though I cook a lot, I’ve just realised so far the only recipes I’ve put up on here are alcoholic ones! Oops. Today I’ve got the simplest winter warmer for you. I made this at the weekend for a friend’s Christmas Cocktails do and it went down a STORM. There were a few sore heads the next day ;). They’re super easy, and dress them up with a sprig of holly tied to the glass, festive straws and some mince pies, and you’ll be nailing it on the hosting front! Let’s tuck in, shall we?

God, I love this time of year! I love it for lots of reasons, there’s a feeling that change is in the air, I love the smell of smoky mornings, the feel of wrapping up in a scarf for the first time, of opening a bottle of red wine by a big fire place and I mostly love it because every year come November I treat myself to a ‘Staycation’, taking a week off to go home, hang out with my mum, dad and dog, and go for long walks in the country to look at all the leaves changing.
